Description
After his debut in Serie C in Pavia with Pavese Luigi Belli, [ 2 ] in 1938 he was bought by Milan.
He arrived at Milan while he was doing his military service at the 3rd Artillery Regiment of the 3rd Army Corps and played mainly matches in the 1938-1939 reserve championship where he played 10 games and scored one goal [ 3 ] .
According to many books and online sites he did not play any matches for the first team, something which is denied by both Matarrese's book [ 4 ] and the 3 volumes of Milan [ 5 ] , due to a curious detail.
Since he was on duty that Sunday and the Rossoneri team had the problem of replacing an absent player, the AC Milan directors asked and obtained from their captain the permission to field him in the match against Bologna [ 4 ] in the 7th round of the first leg of the season, which Bologna lost 2-1. However, the captain set as a condition for him to be allowed to leave the barracks that he was not mentioned in any Monday sports paper and for this reason in all the reports Luigi Tornaghi is mentioned with the number 8, who has never played in the first team because he is in fact a striker for the youth team (Tornaghi is not present in the AC Milan player register). Vigo's presence in that match was later explained in "Calcio illustrato" and in "Gazzetta dello sport" on a midweek page. [ 6 ]
